Rainy Creek
August 11, 2006

After seeing some pictures posted to the web of a great swimming hole on Rainy Creek, I took the boys out for an exploratory hike to see if we could find it. We did find it, but it's really just near Rainy Creek, still on the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. The water was chilly enough to discourage any swimming, so instead we followed the creek up for a ways until we ran out of time. The trail is in fabulous shape, recently brushed and nicely constructed, although you may have to do a bit of route finding at the start to get onto the trail proper. Rainy Creek is quite beautiful, pooling and dropping alongside the trail, sometimes close enough to see, other times just close enough to hear. We thouroughly enjoyed this outing!

Logs to cross - now this is starting to get fun!

We ate lunch beside this gorgeous stream, with mossy boulders, waterfalls and crystal clear pools

Babes in the woods!

There were some really big trees along this trail...

...and they were really tall, too!
